Proctor Creek [S-3498] is one of 3 sites monitored by Group [ G-1923] Ridgecrest Dr @ NE Butler Creek Tributary

Site Description: Located at Deerfield Park off Deerfield Drive. The Deerfield Park Trail crosses Proctor Creek at this location. The creek begins near the Kennesaw First Baptist Church. Heading north-northeast, the creek ponds in a residential subdivision then runs along an easement that the City of Kennesaw has turned into a public use passive recreational trail. The creek passes between residential neighborhoods (to the west) and industrial properties (to the east), before entering Deerfield Park and passing through Winchester Park and end at the cul-de-sac on Lindley Lane.

Special Information:A local citizen reported to me that he hikes the trail frequently and when he crossed the bridge at Deerfield Park, the water was milky white, a fish kill occurred, and the water had a chemical smell. He contacted the City of Kennesaw who reportedly send out an inspector. No further information was reported by the citizen. The first chemical monitoring event that took place (performed by G1923)was approxiamtely 1.5 to 2 weeks after the initial report to the City. Frequent monitoring should be conducted due to the industrial nature of the businesses east of the stream. NOTE: Stream flow is to the north/northeast. The chemical odor and milky/cloudy water is not present south of the industrial areas. Concern should be taken seriously since the creek flows through two children's playgrounds and human health may be impacted if exposed to the unknown contents in the stream.
