Site Description: Smithwick Creek drains an area bounded by Hwy 372 in the east, lies south of the Etowah River, straddles Hwy 20 in the south, and is bounded by E Cherokee Drive in the west.

Special Information:This area has both farmland and subdivisions, primarily rural with cattle and horse farms, and forestry operations. There is some cattle fencing along Buzzard Flapper Creek. Smithwick Creek supports healthy populations of the Federally Endangered Etowah Darter and other darter species. The main threat to water quality is coliform bacteria and suburban runoff.
