Peavine Creek headwater tributary [S-2084] is one of 3 sites monitored by Group [ G-1521] Parkwood Garden Club

Site Description: Parkwood Park is a 3.2 acre linear, riparian stream zone wooded Park owned and maintained by the Parkwood Garden Club, a neighborhood association straddling Historic Druid Hills and City of Decatur. This headwater tributary of Peavine Creek runs from south to north through the center of this Park. Inputs include stormwater runoff from East Lake MARTA Station parking lots and runoff from backyard storm drains on W Parkwood Rd, as well as street curb drains on W and E Parkwood Rds. These particular coordinates are for a site located where the stream enters Parkwood Park at the south end, in the first deep pool in front of the 2 culverts that are coming out from underneath the cut through.

Special Information:On June 21, 2011, there are salamanders visible on rocks in the deep pool where I'm sampling. Most likely Eurycea bislineata which has been seen in stream here before; juveniles on rocks today have side stripes resembling this species. About 6 small juveniles visible. Also about 6 Ebony Jewelwing damselflies actively courting at mouths of culverts on Jewelweed. Water about 1-2 feet deep in sampling spot and relatively calm with inflows from both culverts.
