Site Description: Long Creek is one of 3 creeks that converge to form Noontootla Creek at a location known as Three Forks.

Special Information:The Appalachian and Benton MacKaye Trails share treadway along Long Creek for about a mile NE of the convergence; cross Forest Service Road 58 and, immediately thereafter, a foot bridge over Chester Creek, the second of the three creeks; then follow Stover Creek, the third, a short distance before diverging and taking different routes to Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of both long trails.

These creeks are located in the heart of Forest Service Hemlock Conservation Area (HCA) 88, an approximately 1,100 acre stand of eastern hemlocks recently infested with hemlock wooly adelgids (HWA).The USDA Forest Service is conducting an HWA suppression effort there.
