Unnamed Tributary to Fords Lake [S-1193] is one of 1 sites monitored by Group [ G-1107] Brookstone II

Site Description: The sampling site is in the Brookstone II subdivision, Acworth, west Cobb County. It is located between two private residential properties (5732 Fairwood Drive, NW, and 5734 Fairwood Drive, NW). It is a small perennial stream, 2-3 feet wide and about 6 inches deep when there has been no rain. After heavy rains, depth can increase to about two feet. Residents say the creek is spring fed. Trees lining the creek include sweetgum, yellow poplar and red maple, 30 to 40 feet high. There are Japanese honeysuckle and privet along the stream bank. The creek contains silt, and neighborhood trash including tennis balls and plastic bottles. Occasional oil slicks on the water. There is a large stagnant pool of water, about 5 feet by 10 feet directly upstream from the sampling site. No sign of any animal life.

Special Information:Because the sampling site occurs at a low point in a residential neighborhood, the potential exists for lawn chemicals and pet fecal material to make their way into the creek.
